At Scede, we strongly believe that building world class teams is the cornerstone of any successful tech company.

Yet, we’ve seen first-hand the hurdles businesses face when it comes to acquiring and retaining top talent, especially when scaling quickly.

Traditional recruitment agencies can be costly, and large-scale RPOs often struggle to adapt to the unique needs of high growth companies. Meanwhile, internal teams often find themselves stretched thin, trying to juggle rapid expansion with limited resources.

That’s why we founded Scede in 2013. We saw the need for a recruitment partner who could seamlessly integrate with a company’s culture and hiring goals, offering both strategic guidance and hands-on execution that makes an impact.

Having supported over 250 companies in scaling their teams, we understand that building an effective talent acquisition function is a critical step in a company’s growth. But it’s not the whole picture. We understand that the true driving force behind long-term success is people—and having the right structures in place to support, develop, and retain that talent is just as important.

Matthew Ellis

Starting out in tech recruitment in 2006, Matthew’s first experiences were in the traditional agency environment – where he claims he learned how not to do his job. 

Having gone in-house in 2011, joining Skype during pre/post the Microsoft acquisition, he found a new perspective on recruitment & burning desire to create something different for the TA industry.

A business that puts the craft of Talent Acquisition front and centre of everything that it does, hiring teams to deliver products with global reach, working side by side with leadership teams to deliver tangible impact – all driven by a community of kick ass recruiters.

In 2013 Matthew launched Scede with former Skype colleagues at the dawn of what is now commonly known as Embedded Talent, where he operates at his best, in the chaos of growth stage companies, helping them achieve hiring success.

Today, Matthew works with the Scede Group leadership team to enable companies not just hire top talent, but build the environment to develop & ultimately retain their greatest investment – their people.

Jonny Summers

Entering the startup world in 2007, Jonny joined a recruitment venture reshaping how VC-backed tech companies hired top talent. 

Over the years, the company helped scale 100+ high-growth businesses, including LOVEFiLM, Just Eat, Shazam, and Zoopla, before being successfully acquired. That experience sparked a passion for building and scaling businesses.

In 2017, Jonny joined Scede to help establish it as the go-to talent partner for fast-growing tech companies. Working alongside Matt, he has been instrumental in scaling Scede’s operations to support clients in 30+ countries while expanding the internal team to 100+ Scede’rs across the UK, Europe, and North America.

Today, Scede partners with some of the biggest names in tech, helping them hire, develop, and retain top talent at every stage of growth.

Lauren Vint-McGee

Lauren’s journey in talent acquisition began in 2006, where she discovered her passion for connecting companies with exceptional talent. Starting in traditional recruitment agencies, she quickly expanded her expertise across the full spectrum of talent acquisition—from RPO and in-house recruitment to strategic advisory roles.

Over nearly two decades, Lauren has experienced every facet of the recruitment landscape, building deep expertise in sourcing, delivery, team leadership, and strategic implementation. Her natural affinity for change management and technology has consistently driven innovation in how companies approach hiring.

A self-proclaimed “AI and process nerd,” Lauren’s passion for continuous improvement has been instrumental in her success to date. She prides herself in empowering recruitment teams to deliver exceptional results, leveraging data-driven insights and technological innovation to transform hiring challenges into growth opportunities.

In 2022, Lauren joined Scede as Managing Director, where she leads our dynamic team specialising in tech and gaming recruitment. Today, Lauren strives to push the boundaries of what’s possible in talent acquisition, leading Scede’s mission to be the go-to talent partner for fast-growing tech companies, while championing the perfect blend of human insight and technological advancement in modern recruitment.
